Gila Pahima moved back to Kiryat Shmona in spring 2025, eighteen months after her town was evacuated. In March 2026 the sirens began again — Hezbollah and Iranian missiles, around the clock. Metula stood 48% repopulated, with roughly 60% of its buildings needing repair. More than 60,000 people from the northern border spent over a year circulating between hotels. Many never went back.
